We totally crashed Bethany's neighborhood association's Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny in the pictures is the President of the club. We've been to so many of these things that she probably thinks we live in her neighborhood. She didn't think twice about posing for a picture, which leads me to believe we're not strangers.

Bethany scored Adele some Stripper/Princess shoes. Because every 2 year old must own plastic shoes with feathers across the toes.

It's a habit of ours to ride the train (MetroRail) to the Rodeo. We park at an apartment complex pretty close to Reliant Stadium and walk to the rail station. This way Adele gets what we've dubbed as a "train ride" before seeing the animals and hanging out at the Rodeo. She thinks it pretty neat.

Welcome Baby David

Adele's friend, Violet, became an older sister recently. Adele told us that some tape fell off of Bethany's belly and that's how baby David got here. She added that it was a like a Jack-in-the-box, and that we could put baby David back in Bethany's belly. Really ... that's how it works?

I had to work on Christmas day from 9:00 to 1:00, so we opened gifts after nap time. When I left for work Adele was dressed in a green sweater and jeans. When I returned she was wearing her favorite thing of all time ... froggy jammies. Yes!

So ... Adele's been using a binky (pacifier) for bedtime since she was a baby. Lately, she tends to drool a lot when she's sleeping. Combine the drool and the binky, and you get one nasty rash. We're using Vaseline (nice, shiny cheeks) and lotion to remedy the rash, and it's bye-bye binky for Adele.

Adele's favorite gift is her baby. The baby cries and laughs, and opens and closes her eyes. She came with a bed, a lotion container, sippy cup, blanket, and a baby wipes container. We put all of the baby's things into a Ziploc bag, and Adele enjoys toting the bag around the house. She likes to pretend to put lotion on the baby's knees and shoulders, and she likes to pretend to wipe the baby's bottom. She also loves to hold and rock the baby after the baby's been crying. It's cute to watch Adele being so attentive. Adele has insisted that the baby come with us on all our outings since opening her. So far, the baby has been to Violet's house and the fire station. That's one lucky baby.

Adam's parents sent this Christmas plate at the beginning of December. It was the first present Adele unwrapped. She loves it! Thanks Grandpa Bob and Grandma Sandie!

My favorite thing about her talking is when she's concentrating on something, or she thinks she's being funny, she'll call Adam by his name, not Daddy. We had a full day of fun on Saturday, May 6, 2009. Destination: Conroe/Moorehead Farms for some blueberry picking, and then to Clute for a birthday party.

We cooled off with a strawberry snow cone after our plentiful pick. It took about 35 minutes for Dave and Alan to stand in line to get these things, and they were worth every sweet, sugary bite.

Adam's parents came to visit us over Memorial Day Weekend. We had a great time with them. We went to several museums and introduced them to Tex Mex, Chuy's style. Adele especially loved the tomatillo salsa.

Easter Sunday 2009

It was raining today, so the church wasn't able to have their Easter egg hunt. They provided bags of eggs and candy for the kids. Adele has never had so much sugar in her life. She has been so hyper today!

We were flying solo. Adam had to work at the fire station. We went with Dave and Bethany to church, and then had a nice Mediterranean meal with Dave's parents. Adele was good for the first 30-40 minutes of the service, then starting crying over a bag of animal crackers. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but it was during a prayer and I felt really bad for the people around us. So ... we took a break and went to the refreshment section of the church. It was pretty impressive. Adele especially like the poppy seed muffins. In this picture she's working on her second muffin.

Eye-et's Visit

Adele's favorite word lately is Eye-et (Violet). We babysat Violet while Bethany hosted a baby shower. The girls were playing so well together until they started fighting over a yellow flower headband. They both wanted it saying, "Mine, mine, mine" (yeah ... not loving this stage). We only have one of those, so of course it was the hot item. We have three bunny ears headbands, but that's not nearly as fun. I quickly put the yellow one away and all was well. Next was curtain hide and seek.

We were at the zoo recently and Adele fell out of her stroller. It was terrible. The worst thing ever. I was pushing the stroller and she wasn't buckled in. We were playing a game with Adam where Adele would lean out of her stroller to try and touch him on the legs (kind of like got you last type thing). What a bad idea! Why didn't I have her buckled in? Well ... I was sick to my stomach for about 3 hours after her accident. I kept looking at her swollen lips and nose and feeling very sad. Luckily, she's healing well.

After picking strawberries we drove to Galveston. Adele was being brave on this visit, and suprised me by wanting to get deeper into the water. We didn't change into our swimsuits, so Adele was all clam-digger style.

We had our first adventure at a Strawberry Farm. Adele, Violet, and Madison had a great time. Madison was telling Adele and Violet how to pick the best strawberries. It was a very cute scene. Madison: "Okay now ... don't pick the green ones."

I had a great time too. We got there a little late and I managed to pick a 5 lb bucket in no time. We'll definitely being going back.

Poop

Adele has had a really hard time with poop lately. She was impacted. It wasn't pretty. Adam and I had to assist with getting the poop out for 3 nights in a row. We also gave her a couple of enemas. I felt so bad for her. The situation is getting better, but it's been rough on us for about 3 weeks now. We're giving her all sorts of fiber-rich food and making sure she gets lots of water. We're also huge fans of Miralax.

Adele is a little nervous about the automatic trains, and it's taking some time for her to think that it's okay that they move on their own. She likes the push, non-automatic sets, but she's still apprehensive about the whole set up. Hmm ... should we box it all up and give it to her next year? Maybe she's a little too young to understand the concept.

Thanksgiving 2008

We flew to Utah to spend Thanksgiving with my family. I was all excited to take pictures of my family members (to make flashcards for Adele) and the battery died, not just one battery, but the extra I brought just in case the first one pooped out. Note to self, next time bring the battery charger. I did get a couple of good, flashcard worthy shots before the second battery died. Athena and Alexandria. I was also bummed because my brother was married the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I wasn't able to get any pictures. Again, note to self, next time bring the battery charger. Like duh.

Trip to Arizona

I ventured to Arizona to have my toofusses fixed ("toofusses" = "teeth," in some cultures, which amuses me). Yes, two of my toofusses needed some cosmetic work. With one week of vacation, a jumpseat, and a great discount on crowns I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Also, I knew I could trust the person performing the work. I have one more trip to Arizona for the final product, and then I'll post some before and after shots.

Sick Adele...

Adele is sick right now. The poor little thing. She had a fever of 103.5 on Monday morning around 2:00 am. The fever did go down with Ibuprofen and Tylenol (switching every other dose). The other symptoms like her constant runny nose, cough, chest congestion, and rash are the ones I have a hard time controlling. Today she's a little better, but the nights have been rough. I am very lucky that I can take sick days from work to care for her. I'm hoping that by Wednesday or Thursday she'll be back to her cute, healthy self.

Before the Roseola thing, we battled an earache for about a week. The nights were horrendous. She went an entire weekend without eating anything (drank about 6 Oz. of Gatorade). This video is of us trying to figure out how to fix her and get her to go back to sleep...

The Children's Museum

This was the first time we ventured out of the kiddie room. Adele had a great time. We went to an old Mexican village (complete with a tortilleria), we went shopping at a market (Adele had a thing for avocados), and Adele said "Hello" to, and milked, a cow. Later, we went back to the kiddie room for some of Adele's favorites ... the play car and the ride-on fish (or whatever that big orange thing is).

Adele likes to be involved when Adam's doing push-ups. She nudged herself under his belly when he was in the up position and then rolled out from under him when he came back down to the floor. I couldn't capture that exact moment in a picture, but you get the idea. It was pretty cute, and I couldn't believe how coordinated she was. She definitely gets that from Adam (I have no grace/coordination whatsoever). She also attempted her first somersault.

We went to the Arboretum with our neighbors Jim and Pilar. In the picture of me and Adele you may be able to see some turtles sunning themselves on a log. We were fixated with these turtles for about 15 minutes. Adam and Jim were trying to scheme up some way to get to the turtles, but after awhile they gave up. They figured getting wet and slimy wasn't worth getting a closer look.

The Boo Zoo

I'm a little late posting Adele's Halloween adventures. We braved the crowd and headed to the zoo with 1000 other patrons.

When I bought her costume I thought it was a sunflower. The whole day at the zoo Adam and I kept saying, "Adele, you are such a cute, little sunflower." Then, every time someone would ask what she was we'd respond, "She's a sunflower." No one ever corrected us. It wasn't until a week later at a friend's party that someone said something like, "You're a cute daisy Adele." It finally hit me that yes, indeed, she was a daisy. The petals are white. Duh.

It ended up getting really warm, and Adele was sweating in her costume. She ended up wearing only her onesie. She enjoyed the pumpkin patch and wanted to take home every pumpkin she touched. It was pretty cute.

We then played a few rounds of touch football, and my favorite part was Adam trying to teach me a quaterback sneak. Noel and I mastered our frisbee skills, while Adele watched. I like them because Adele seems so impressed with herself for making a sound come out of the harmonica, and then she lets me know she's all done in sign language (her crossing her arms together). I love to see her try new things and have them actually work.
